Star Wars Day: How to recreate Rey's iconic triple bun hairstyle

Get ready for Star Wars Day with this quick and easy hair tutorial!

Happy May the fourth! Who else is going to do a Star Wars movie marathon today?

Here at GlamTouché, we’re all about hair, so naturally, we asked ourselves which Star Wars character had the best hair?

Unanimously, we decided that the most glorious hair belonged to none other than…Chewbacca!

(Was there even any other real contender? I mean look at those luscious Wookie locks!)

Unfortunately, not everyone can pull off this superb mane (sorry girls…). Instead, we thought we’d show you how to recreate Rey’s hairstyle, from the latest trilogy. It’s super easy and quick to make, taking only around 5 minutes! Grab your hairbrush, your elastics, and some bobby pins!

Step 1:

Section off a small part of your hair, in the shape of a triangle, on the top of your head. Secure it with an elastic to make a little ponytail.

Step 2:

Section your hair from the top of your ears to the crown of your head and brush that into its own ponytail (including our first section).

Step 3:

Secure the ponytail with an elastic, but on the last loop, pull your hair through only part of the way. This will create the first bun.

Step 4:

Put any extra hair that is sticking out with the ends and wrap them around the base of the bun. Secure everything with bobby pins. 1 bun down, 2 to go!

Step 5:

For the second bun, split the rest of the hair in half. The second ponytail should sit right underneath the first bun. Repeat steps 3 and 4.

Step 6:

Tie your last bun, which should sit at the base of your neck, by repeating the steps above.

Step 7:

To finish up, loosen up some of the hair around your face to imitate Rey’s baby hair.

And voilà! Easy, right?

We LOVE this hairstyle! It’s simple yet original and will make heads turn. And while fellow Star Wars fans will probably recognize this hairstyle and applaud you for it, it’s a little more 'low-key' than Princess Leia’s iconic cinnamon buns 😉.

Bonus tip: For a quick and easy everyday look, only make the first bun to create a cute half up half down hairstyle!

May the force be with you today!

Much Love,
